Belarus, Russia plan to build unified information infrastructure

13.05.2022

Belarus and Russia are planning to build a unified information infrastructure, State Secretary of the Belarusian Security Council Aleksandr Volfovich said in an interview with the Russian magazine Natsionalnaya Oborona [National Defense], BelTA has learned.

Not so long ago, Minsk played host to the Belarusian-Russian interdepartmental consultations on information security. According to Aleksandr Volfovich, special consideration was given to the draft Concept of Information Security of the Union State. This document, he noted, takes into account "the threat of negative information impact aimed at destroying the cultural and spiritual traditions of the peoples of Belarus and Russia, distorting the historical truth.”

"The document is aimed at developing joint efforts to adopt international norms and rules of responsible behavior in the information sphere, countering cybercrime. It reflects the focus of our countries on technological independence by building a unified information infrastructure, including in the interests of ensuring the security of the Union State in ICT, and also developing public-private partnership in information," Aleksandr Volfovich noted.

The state secretary added that if the draft concept is approved by the heads of state, it can become a kind of model document for strengthening cooperation with partner countries.
