Deputy Head of the Main Directorate for General Secondary and Preschool Education — Head of the General Secondary Education Department of the Ministry of Education Irina Karzhova told a BELTA correspondent how much it would cost parents to use a set of school textbooks.
«Providing students of general secondary education institutions with textbooks is one of the measures of their social protection. The development, publication and subsequent reprinting of textbooks is carried out at the expense of budgetary funds. The funds of legal representatives of schoolchildren are not involved for these purposes,» Irina Karzhova emphasized.
She noted that parents pay a fee for using textbooks, the amount of which is fixed and amounts to 0.5 basic units per set of textbooks. «Thus, the cost of a set of school textbooks that will be used from September 1 is Br21. No changes have been made to the procedure for paying for the use of textbooks and calculating the cost,» the representative of the Ministry of Education informed.
