MINSK, 23 July (BelTA) – President of Belarus Alexander Lukashenko has instructed Education Minister Alexander Radkov to start Belarus’ accession to the Bologna Process, the press service of the Belarusian head of state told BelTA. The Bologna Process is supposed to create and improve a Europe-wide higher education space. It will allow raising the attractiveness and the competitive ability of European education in the modern world. Belarus’ accession to the Bologna Process will foster the rapprochement of educational standards of the Belarusian and European higher education systems. It will step up the integration of science, education and high-tech manufacturing. It will foster an access to the European education quality assurance network and international accreditation of Belarusian universities, involvement of Belarusian higher education in the accreditation of education systems of other countries. It will promote the introduction of national mechanisms to assess, ensure and confirm the quality of education. The mechanisms will be compliant with European ones. The step will ensure the conformance of different educational institutions, programs and scientific knowledge at the European level. The Bologna Process will expand access to European programs for academic and scientific cooperation and will improve the attractiveness of the national higher education system for foreign students.
