The surplus of Belarus' foreign trade in merchandise and services totaled $797.7 million in January-October 2014, representatives of the National Bank of the Republic of Belarus told BelTA.
In January-October 2013 Belarus had a deficit of foreign trade in merchandise and services to the tune of $1.4 billion.
In January-October 2014 Belarus' foreign trade totaled $73,309.9 million, 2.5% down from January-October 2013. Belarus' export rose by 0.5% from January-October 2013 to $37,053.8 million while import shrank by 5.4% to $36,256.1 million.
In January-October 2014 the deficit of merchandise trade totaled $1,051 million. In January-October 2013 deficit was three times as much ($3,256.2 million). In January-October 2014 Belarus' foreign merchandise trade dropped by 3.8% in comparison with January-October 2013 to $62,207 million. Merchandise export shrank by 0.4% to $30,578 million while import dropped by 6.9% to $31,629 million.
Belarus' foreign trade in services rose by 5.7% to $11,102.9 million. Export rose by 5.2% to $6,475.8 million while import rose by 6.4% to $4,627.1 million. The surplus of foreign trade in services rose by 2.3% to $1,848.7 million.
