MINSK, 16 February (BelTA) – In 2009, the doctors of the Minsk Oblast Teaching Hospital performed 568 heart surgeries, of them 38 were open heart surgeries, BelTA learnt from Head of the Healthcare Department of the Minsk Oblast Executive Committee Ivan Lipnitsky. According to him, the healthcare facilities of the oblast have received a stable financial support for the past several years, which allowed improving the quality of healthcare services, making these services available to more people, and introducing new diagnostic and treatment methods. For example, coronary angiography and CABG are now available at the Minsk Oblast Teaching Hospital. The first heart valves surgeries and graft stenting were performed in 2009. The Head of the Healthcare Department informed that some Br3.2 billion was allocated from the national and oblast budget to purchase medical equipment in 2009. The neurological departments of the Molodechno and Slutsk regional hospitals were expanded to treat patients suffering from cerebrovascular disorders. A computer tomograph will be purchased for the Borisov regional hospital. БЕЛТА
